River-bed Necklace
River-bed Necklace
This necklace was inspired by the flow of water, sediments and boulders in a river bed. Using Shobori silk, cultured pearls and rainbow moonstones alongside other gems and seed beads, it has a chalcedony drop as well as labradorite and flourite elements.
Finished with a sterling silver lobster clasp, the necklace is 18" long with a 2" extender
Moonstone is an historic gem. Both the Romans and the Greeks associated it with their lunar deities. The Roman natural historian, Pliny, coined the name of this gemstone when he wrote that moonstone's shimmery appearance shifted with the phases of the moon—a belief that held until well after the sixteenth century.
